Dobbs Ferry Accessory Dwelling Unit Public Hearing
Dobbs Ferry Accessory Dwelling Unit Public Hearing
January 28, 2025 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Dobbs Ferry Village Hall, 112 Main St, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522, USA
Village of Dobbs Ferry: Voice Your Support for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)
What’s Up: The Village of Dobbs Ferry is holding a public hearing to discuss expanding eligibility for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to single-family homes.
Why: ADUs can take the form of garage conversions, backyard cottages, converted attics, or basement apartments – any space on an existing lot that can be repurposed into a fully separate living space. They play a vital role in addressing the ongoing housing crisis by creating additional housing options without requiring significant new land development, helping to address housing shortages in communities. They are typically smaller and more cost-effective than traditional homes, providing affordable housing options for renters, including students, young professionals, retirees, and others who may be looking for smaller, more affordable options, without concern for overwhelming municipalities or school districts. By utilizing existing residential lots, ADUs also promote smart growth and reduce urban sprawl.
What to Do: Show up to the upcoming public hearing and express your support for ADUs! Your voice matters and can make a significant difference in the community. By showing up, you can help ensure that everyone has access to safe, affordable housing options.
When: The meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 7:30 PM.
Where: Village Hall, 112 Main Street, Dobbs Ferry, New York 10522
